Icelandic Sheepskin
Icelandic Sheepskin
Fluffy, silky soft, and because these sheep are descended from the sheep that the Vikings brought to Iceland, they have thicker longer hair than the Aussie sheep. Wow! No wonder Liam, our cat, feels like he is sitting on a cloud - he really is! We import these rugs directly from a tannery in Iceland that supports family farms and age-old trades. Keeping with tradition, none of these hides are dyed - these are the natural colors and each hide is unique.
Choose Ivory, Rusty Brown, Black, Mottled Gray, and a rare Piebald, that means multi-colored sheep, this one is ivory with black spots. Color variations and markings will vary from hide to hide.
Please reach out if you have any specific questions about your selection and we will send you photos of what is in stock.
Care: We recommend that you keep it fluffy by brushing it with a long hair style dog brush. Shake it to expel dirt, and if you get a stain, dampen the wool and put corn starch on it and rub it in. Leave it to dry and then brush and shake the dry starch away. Use lukewarm water - never hot!
